Asphaltic concrete paving

Commonly called asphalt paving or beck-top, it is a construction method by which the mixture of asphalt and aggregate (sand and crushed rock or gravel) is spread while hot onto a prepared surface and then compacted and levelled with a roller to form a finished, weather resistant surface for streets, driveways and parking areas. Thickness is usually 2 to 4 inches. The materials can can also be mixed while cold which is termed cold mix.
