A type of Y-shaped homodimeric DNA-binding protein in which the stem is composed of two intertwined α-helices held together as a leucine zipper; the arms of the Y are the basic regions that reach around the double-stranded DNA and interact with its acidic phosphate moieties in a scissor-like grip.
