Center- wire method of levelling

Levelling in which only the reading at the line of sight through the central line of the three horizontal lines on the reticle is taken. For precise work, readings are taken along the line of sight through all three horizontal lines and the average of the three readings taken. The centre wire method is faster than the three wire method but does not provide as many cheques of the readings.
