A race of angelic beings, thought to be of a higher standing than angels. In biblical texts they protect the garden of eden and weild flaming swords. Ezekiel described them as having four faces - those of a lion, an ox, an eagle and a human. They have two sets of wings, with one large set being used to support the throne of God.
