Dealer
As an investment term, a dealer is a person who deals in real property as an occupation rather than as an investor. For purposes of income taxation, a dealer is one who holds property primarily for sale to customers in the ordinary course of trade or business. A person who is a "dealer" with respect to specific property is ineligible for the benefits of long-term capital gain treatment on the disposition of the property, I.R.C. §§ 1221(1), 1231(b)(1)(B). In federal securities law, a dealer is any person engaged in the business of buying and selling securities for his or her own account, 15 U.S.C. § 78c(a)(5).
