A measure of the sharpness of a simple curve in which a 1deg. curve is taken as the central angle subtended by a chord or arc of 100 feet and for which the radius is taken as 5,730 feet. Sharper curves are in direct proportion, i.e., a 10deg. curve is taken as one having a radius of 573 feet. Railroads use the chord definition - highways the arc of definition.
