Minced fish recovered from a bone separator often contains an undesirable amount of free water, probably from the water used to lubricate the drum of the bone separator. This can be removed in a dewatering press in which the minced fish is forced by an endless screw along a dewatering drum, with fine perforations, such that the pressure of the screw in the drum may be varied to control the amount of water removed.
