Extreme ironing
Extreme Ironing is a modern sport in which participants take ironing equipment to dangerous situations to pose for photos. Famous extreme ironing photos have shown participants ironing while skiing, while under frozen lakes, in the middle of motorways and in the middle of a bungee jump.
The sport was created in 1997 by Phil "Steam" Shaw, a worker in a knitwear factory who wanted to bring more excitement to his job. In 1999 he embarked on an international tour to promote the sport, starting local clubs around the world.
The sport has received media attention due to its unusual nature, as well as the controversy of whether or not it can be classified as a sport.
