When a skier jumps they lean forward and to reduce drag, the skier will have their skis form a V shape with the back of the skis together, this helps to provide lift to the skier and therefore a longer distance jumped. Once a skier has taken off from the jump, they are in the air for 2 to 3 seconds before they land.
