Geographic atrophy

Deterioration of tissue in the central portion of the retina, often associated with aging. Geographic atrophy (GA) is considered the end stage of a "dry" form of age-related macular degeneration, which occurs when tissue in the retina begins to break down and form yellowish spots known as drusen. GA can cause significant central vision loss.
