A gun control petition introduced in the wake of the Newtown mass shootings in Connecticut on December 14, 2012 in which 20 children were massacred on a school campus. The petition was signed by more 79,000 people and demanded U.S. President Obama to produce legislation that would limit access to guns. The petition argues that while a national dialogue is critical, laws are the only means to reduce the number of people murdered in gun related deaths.
