Intron editing
A change in the reading of the sequence coded by DNA directed by an adjacent intron. The intron, which has a sequence complementary to part of the exon, forms a double-stranded stem structure that is subject to enzymic alteration of a coding base, e.g. deamination of an adenine, before the intron is eliminated by splicing.
