Movement
A term used by U.S. Republican candidate Mitt Romney to describe his 2012 presidential campaign as he kicked off the final weekend of campaigning across the country. A movement is usually a series of grassroots events and actions taken by a large number of people working towards a common political goal. In the state of New Hampshire where he launched his bid for the presidency, Romney expressed confidence that he would eventually win the election: "I've watched over the last few months as our campaign has gone from a start to a movement." Polls during the final week showed the GOP nominee statistically tied with President Barack Obama heading into Election Day on November 6, 2012.
