Moving-target indication

A method of presenting pulse-radar echoes in a manner that discriminates in favour of moving targets and suppresses stationary objects. Moving-target indication (MTI) is almost a necessity when moving targets are being sought over a region from which the ground clutter echoes are very strong. The most common presentation of the output of a radar with MTI is a plan position indicator (PPI) display. The moving targets appear as bright echoes, while ground clutter is suppressed.
