Optimal matching hydrophobicity (OMH)

A calculated value used to predict conformational similarities of proteins from their amino acid sequences. Numerical values for hydrophobicity, OMHs, are assigned to each amino acid residue to allow comparisons based upon features of the residues that are important to their structural function, but independent of actual amino acid identities. An OMH plot, OMH values against sequence number, permits visual comparisons of proteins.
