Parquetry
A form of marquetry, produced by the same process, in which the pattern, instead of a free arrangement of bird and flower designs or scrolled arabesques, is a geometric layout of different coloured veneers. It is a form of decoration more rarely encountered than ordinary marquetry, but it is occasionally found on the long trunk doors of early walnut-veneered longcase clocks.
