Relexification

A mechanism whereby the vocabulary of a language is replaced by the vocabulary of another, without the basic rules of grammar changing significantly. An example is the Michif language, spoken by aboriginal Canadians, which in the present day mostly consists of French vocabulary with some English and other rare languages sprinkled in.
