Rumination

A form of anxiety whereby the sufferer will spend an excessive amount of time thinking about their symptoms and the causes of the problems, and spend comparatively little time thinking about solutions. It is distinct from worry, which is a focus on bad things that could happen in the future. Ruminators tend to be neurotic and obsessed with their own failures. It was originally thought to be a symptom of depression, but modern research suggests that it is a distinct state that can have a very strong synergy with depression.
