A thinner more abrasive resistant string material that is "wrapped"(served) around the string bundle to prevent wear and damage to bow strings at critical points. Specifically the string and the cable ends where the strings wrap around the cams, and also the "center" serving where the calliper release, or fingers would wear the string.
