1). Hand-based shunting signals. Orders can be given to the drivers using hand signals. Acoustic signals are given using a whistle or horn in addition to the hand signals, if the shunter needs to catch the driver's attention. 2). Colour light shunting signals. These shunt signals are used in stations for movements into and out of sidings and are indicated by position light signals or position light ground signals as follows: Proceed: two white lights displayed diagonally. Stop: one white light and one red light displayed horizontally. 3). Semaphore signals. These signals are installed at ground level and generally consist of a white disc (with a red stripe) or small arm: Proceed: disc or arm rotated through 45° with a green light at night. Stop: disc or arm in the horizontal position with a red or white light at night.
