Skimboarding

Skimboarding is a board sport with involves surfing on a flat leaf-shaped board in shallow water from 2-10 centimetres deep. The shallow water makes it so you are barley skimming the surface of the ground which is what derives the name skim boarding.

In order to skimboard, one must throw the board onto the ground in a pushing motion in order to establish momentum. Then the rider must run and catch up to the board and successfully jump on with both feet. It is common that this is done on beaches against waves as well as on sandy banks of rivers and estuaries.
