skins game
A skins game is a type of match play and each hole has a value called a skin. Kind of like taking a scalp we guess. The skin can be worth points or more likely money. The player who wins the hole with the best score wins the skin. However, in match play holes are halved, each player getting half a point. In skins games the value is carried over to the next hole if there is a tie. So if each hole is worth $100 dollars and there is a tie the next hole is worth $200 and if there is another tie then the next hole is worth $300 until some one wins a hole. Skins games are played on television between famous golfers who are playing for charity and with carryovers holes can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
