Smoking kiln

There are basically two types of commercial kiln, the traditional kiln, sometimes called a smokehouse, a batch operation that depends on natural convection, and the mechanical kiln with forced convection and temperature control which can be designed as a batch or continuous operation. The smoke is usually generated by burning wood, wood chips, (wood shavings), or sawdust (or a combination of these) obtained from hardwood or softwood or some combination of these.
