Water that exits the field area as surface runoff during or after an irrigation or rainfall event. TW is expressed as either a volume or a depth. When expressed as a depth, the volume of tailwater is visualised as the depth of water that would result if all the tailwater were evenly distributed over a flat, uniform surface with an area equivalent to the field size.
