tee

A small piece of wood or plastic that is sharp on one end and round and flat on the other end. It is stuck into the ground with the golf ball being balanced on the top end, which raises the ball off the ground. The golf ball is then easier to hit. Tees can only be used when teeing off. See also Tee Area.
