Tolmiea
Genus of one species of fast-spreading, herbaceous perennial from coniferous woodland in W. North America. Tolmiea (Piggyback plant) forms plantlets on the leaves if given medium light intensity and a soil high in organic matter. Keep the soil evenly moist and fertilise regularly. Temperatures should be between 40 and 65 F. The plant tolerates low light intensity. Tolmiea menziesii is the most popular - it is easy to grow in poor conditions. The long leaf stalks give the plant a trailing appearance.
