A pain syndrome described by chronic pain or discomfort of the vulva. It can cause burning, stinging, irritation, or rawness of the vulva. With localised vulvodynia, pain is felt only in the opening of the vagina. With generalised vulvodynia, the pain may be felt in the entire vulvar region or move around. The vulva often looks normal even though a woman feels pain.
