A disease caused by rice yellow mottle virus. The virus disease can be transmitted by mechanical inoculation or vectored by the adult beetle Sesselia pusilla. It is characterised by stunting and reduced tillering of the infected rice plant; crinkling, mottling, and yellowish streaking of the leaves; malformation and partial emergence of the panicles and sterility.
