Genetic engineering

The science of modifying and manipulating genes to create new artificial DNA or synthetic genes of different organisms. There are many purposes for genetic engineering, some of which include finding better treatment for diseases, or simply for discovering new organism of interest.

Contributors in Genetic engineering

Genetic engineering

Salmonella

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

A genus of rod-shaped, Gram-negative bacteria that are a common cause of food poisoning.

Serum albumin

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

A globular protein obtained from blood and body fluids.

Lysosome

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

A membrane-bound sac within the cytoplasm of animal cells that contains enzymes responsible for the digestion of material in food vacuoles, the dissolution of foreign particles entering the cell and, ...

Undefined

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

A medium or substance added to medium in which not all of the constituents or their concentrations are chemically defined, such as media containing coconut milk, malt extract, casein hydrolysate, ...

Lateral meristem

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

A meristem giving rise to secondary plant tissues, such as the vascular and cork cambia. The term is sometimes used to refer to an axillary meristem.

Inositol lipid

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

A membrane-anchored phospholipid that transduces hormonal signals by stimulating the release of any of several chemical messengers.

Organelle

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

A membrane-bounded specialised region within a cell, such as the mitochondrion or dictyosome, that carries out a specialised function in the life of a cell.
