Abusir is among the three main surviving pyramids that can easily be seen from the funeral complex of the Horus Netjerikhet. Abusir simply means the House of Osiris. Osiris was an ancient Egyptian God of the dead and the resurrection. The site was chosen because is was along the Abusir Lake, making access easy by boat.
