Costas Vaxevanis

Costas Vaxevanis is a Greek journalist who was put to trial in November 2012 for publishing the names of 2000 greeks who hold accounts with HSBC in Switzerland. The names appeared in the magazine of which he is editor, Hot Doc, and included many prominent Greeks accused of tax evasion. The original list was allegedly leaked in 2010 by an HSBC employee before being handed to then French Finance minister Christine Lagarde, who in turn gave it to her Greek counterpart. Many beleive that successive governments have tried to cover it up ever since.
