An electronic ticket or e-ticket is similar to a hotel reservation. An electronic airline ticket resides on the airline's computer data-base. At the time of booking, the traveler receives a confirmation number. The traveler presents the confirmation number at check-in along with photo ID and receives a boarding pass.
