Idaho, nicknamed "The Gem State," is a state located in the Northwestern part of the United States. The state's largest city and capital is Boise. Idaho was admitted to the Union on July 3, 1890, as the 43rd state. It shares borders with the states of Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and the Canadian province of British Columbia. Nampa, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Merdian, and Coeur d'Alene are other major cities in Idaho.
