Irish Revolutionary Brotherhood

Nationalist ssociation founded in 1873, descended from the Fenian Brotherhood. It intended to wage war against Britain, but lack of unity prevented a clear policy developing and some members used Parliament and the Irish Land League to focus opposition. In 1916 the IRB joined in the Easter Rising in Dublin.
