Manuel Antonio Noriega (Panama, 1934) is a Panamanian politician, military leader and de facto ruler of the country since 1983 until 1989. He established a dictatorship and plunged the country into a severe economic crisis, political and social. In 1989 the U.S. military invaded Panama and overthrew his mandate.

Noriega was tried in 1992 in the U.S. and sentenced to 40 years in prison, accused of being linked to the Medellin cartel. Later, in 2010 was convicted in France to 7 years in prison for money laundering.

With 77 years, the 11th of December of 2011 he returned to Panama to serve sentences for crimes that sum more than 60 years in prison: murder, violation of human rights, environmental damage ...and so on.
