Otto Beisheim
Otto Beisheim (3 January 1924 – 18 February 2013) was a German-Swiss businessman and founder of Metro AG. In 2010, his net worth was estimated at US$3.6 billion.
Beisheim was born the son of an estate manager. He did an apprenticeship as a leather goods merchant. During World War II Beisheim served in the 1st SS Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. Beisheim was a SS-Sturmmann (corresponds Gefreiter) in an artillery regiment of the "Leibstandarte". After the Second World War, Otto Beisheim worked as general manager of the electrical trade company Stocker & Reinshagen, in Mülheim an der Ruhr, whos The first Metro store opened in November 1963 in Essen-Altenessen, CEO was there from 1963 to 1970 Walter Vieth.
