Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan (born 30 March 1965) is a British journalist and television host. He launched the Piers Morgan Tonight show on CNN on January 17, 2011. The show replaced Larry King Live after King's retirement. Prior to immigrating to the United States, Morgan served as the editorial director of First News, a national newspaper for children published in the United Kingdom. He also worked as a writer and editor for several British tabloids, including The Sun, News of the World, and Daily Mirror, and was a judge on Britain's Got Talent. Morgan wrote eight books, including three volumes of memoirs. In the U.S., Morgan served as the former judge on America's Got Talent. He was also a winner of The Celebrity Apprentice.

In December 2012, Morgan became the subject of a nationwide controversy after he voiced strong support of gun control laws post the elementary school massacre in which 26 people, including 20 children, were killed in Newtown, Connecticut. His anti-gun stance led pro-gun supporters to start a petition on the White House website to deport him from the U.S.
