Chunk

To "chunk" a shot means that the clubhead struck the ground well before it made contact with the ball. The clubhead slowed considerably before it reached the ball and the ball was propelled far less than the intended distance.

However to compensate, a good chunk of turf was propelled quite a bit farther than intended.
