Core catcher
A nuclear safety device designed to catch, prevent from escaping and cool down the molten material resulting from a nuclear reactor core meltdown. Each modern (operational after 2007) nuclear reactor has one core catcher structure under the reactor, inside the containment building. A core catcher is made from special concrete ceramic, which does not let other material trickle through.
