Cross-screening

A method for reconstructing the order of random clones in a contig by identification of pairs with overlapping sequences. The DNA clones are deposited as parallel strips on a membrane, then strips of the corresponding RNA probe, which are labelled for detection, are laid over and perpendicular to the DNA strips. After hybridization and washing, hybridization is detected for identification of those pairs which share a sequence.
