Genus of 2 or 3 species of evergreen shrubs or small trees from E. Asia. They have large, leathery, palmately 7- to 11-lobed leaves, produced mainly at the branch tips, and compound umbels, to 12 in (30 cm) across, of small, creamy white flowers borne in autumn, followed by clusters of usually spherical black fruits. Fatsia can reach a height of 4 ft. or more. It prefers a cool, well-ventilated and bright conditions. Wash the leaves ocasionally. Don't allow compost to dry out.
