A type of yeast flatbread that is found in eastern Africa (mainly Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, parts of Sudan and Kenya); slightly spongy in texture and sour in taste, injera is simultaneously a person's plate, utensil and food as meals are placed on it and small bits are torn off to pick up other food.
