The method of scanning the odd numbered horizontal lines making up a picture on a CRT (cathode-ray tube) monitor before then scanning the even numbered lines. This method is sometimes used when a monitor's resolution setting is above 800 x 600 pixels per inch in order to help reduce screen flicker.
