Multi-drug resistance (MDR)
A phenomenon in which resistance that develops to one drug is manifested as resistance to many others, even those with very different structures; seen especially in chemotherapy. MDR is due to traffic ATPase transporters of very low specificity that extrude drugs or sequester them in vesicles.
