1) Present the conditioned stimulus without pairing it with the unconditioned stimulus or with an already established conditioned stimulus and the conditioned stimulus will lose its eliciting power.

3) As process. the resulting reduction in the magnitude or other dimension of the response elicited by the conditioned stimulus. "

4) The procedure of respondent extinction involves the presentation of the CS without the US after conditioning has occurred. As a behavioural process, extinction refers to a decline in the strength of the conditioned response when an extinction procedure is in effect. In both instances, the term extinction is used correctly.

5) In operant or respondent extinction, an increment in responding at the beginning of one experimental session of extinction, relative to the level of responding at the end of the preceding session.
