Sequential feedback

A control mechanism for a branched metabolic pathway. The end product of each branch inhibits the first enzymic step of its own branch, which results in an accumulation of the last metabolite of the common pathway. This causes inhibition of the first step of the common pathway and results in inhibition of the common pathway if both end products are present in excess.
