The Battle of Agnadello, also Battle of Vaila, was the main battle in the War of the League of Cambrai. With this battle the Republic of Venice tried to stop the advance of Louis XII. of France, who wanted to conquer Venice's continental possessions. The outcome of the battle was a perfect French victory.

The League of Cambrai officially united Louis XII. of France, Maximilian I, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, and Ferdinand the Catholic of Aragorn and took the official goal of overcoming the Venetians before planning a joint Turkish crusade, so that they could no longer benefit of the conflicts within the other Christian empires. The territorial objectives were directed to negate earlier Venetian vicotories.

The battle can be divided into three sections:

After the battle, the mainland possessions of the Venetians were conquered by the French and Germans. However, the tide turned in late 1509 in favour of the Venetians, because Louis XII. and Maximilian divided and Julius II was preparing a change in alliance against France. The latter resulted in the Holy League from 1511.
