The Community of Latin American and Caribbean Estates, (CELAC) is an intergovernmental body that promotes regional integration and development of Latin American countries. The CELAC was created on Tuesday, February 23rd 2010 at a session of the Summit of the Unity of Latin America and the Caribbean in Mexico. The I Summit of the CELAC, with the ultimate aim of its creation and integration to face the economic crisis, took place in Caracas, Venezuela, the 2nd and 3rd of December 2011.
