An apparent beam of light captured on an iPhone in 2009 from "El Castillo," a Mayan temple on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. The photo shows a powerful beam of light appearing to shoot up from the pyramid shaped tempo toward the sky, while a thunderbolt flashes in the background.

Although the photographer, Hector Siliezar, who was visiting the temple with his wife and kids, acknowledged that they did not see the light beam in person, the photo nonetheless surfaced on a number of Mayan doomsday discussion forums.
