Multi-point microwave distribution system (MMDS)

A terrestrial broadcasting technology which uses low-power microwave transmitters, and is mainly used for extending the range of cable TV systems and for TV distribution in sparsely populated areas or in areas with rough terrain.

MMDS is not specifically analogue or digital. In digital MMDS, the use of MPEG is highly attractive to boost the number of channels that may be distributed.
